GM i agree about Frye playing center being totally nuts but it is the Suns, defense is an afterthought, and he can run. I just hope Robin does mature enough that they can have a true center on board.

I really hope RoLo (diggin’ the monicker) has a chance to shine. He is one my sleepers heading into this season, and Frye seems pretty washed up. I was a bit excited watching him play in NY, realizing the potential he had, but w/ close to no contribution (warming the bench?) to Rip City’s rotation, time is running out. Also, Frye playing C is bonkers. His defense is quite lackluster, so RoLo has the edge there already.

Man, for some reason I find the Amare/Frye combo to be compelling. The idea of two big men that are almost interchangeable that can decimate the pick and roll and pick and pop with Nash is nice.

But the defense would be atrocious, especially facing the Dwight Howard's and Shaq's (as Deebo rightly pointed out). Who knows how it will play out but it is certainly an interesting position battle to watch next season.

Andrew, thank you for reading! I agree with everything you said, if RoLo can defend his position and stay on the court for solid minutes the Amare/Lopez combo could work. If he struggles early and often as he did last season I would expect to see a whole lot of Amare/Frye on the court. Robin just needs to get comfortable out there and stay within his game i.e. don't shoot the ball. I am hoping he will at least grow into a serviceable big man this year.

Nice summary! I've read plenty about the potential Amare/Frye combination, but hadn't considered the likelihood of a Lopez/Amare alternative. Its all pretty much dependant on whether RLo has developed during the offseason or not & whether he can make a difference defending a dominant C. If he can't, they'll probably go with the zero defence, run the other guys off their feet approach (Frye at PF).
